GRE (Graduate Record Examination) is a standardized test that is a basic requirement for a student to apply in any Graduate School in United States of America. It was created and administered by the ETS (Educational Testing Service) since 1949. ETS GRE scores are accepted by most of the top graduate level schools for Masters level programs (like the popular Master of Science degree – MS in USA). You can take the computer-delivered GRE revised General Test once every 21 days, up to five times within any continuous rolling 12-month period (365 days). This applies even if you cancelled your scores on a test taken previously. You may take the paper-delivered GRE revised General Test as often as it is offered.

GRE General Test which is a test of verbal and quantitative reasoning skills and analytical writing.
Unlike the General test, which is unrelated to any specific undergraduate course, the GRE Subject tests are offered in eight specific subject areas and attempt to measure a student’s performance in a subject in which they have majored at undergraduate level.
Generally three scores are reported on the GRE, General Test: a Verbal Reasoning score reported on a 130–170 score scale, in 1-point increments.
A Quantitative Reasoning score reported on a 130–170 score scale, in 1-point increments. an Analytical Writing score reported on a 0–6 score scale, in half-point increments.
